Who is Senior Metal Bellows?

Senior Metal Bellows continues to refine and develop welded metal bellows technology and the integration of welded metal bellows into critical aerospace, semiconductor, medical, defense, and industrial applications. Our 115,000 square-foot manufacturing facility is conveniently located on Route 1 in Sharon, Massachusetts.

What is the Position?

Reporting to the Director of Sales, responsible for market, product, and customer development for assigned territory. Ensure prudent business decisions for issues including but not limited to, payback analysis of new programs, level of investment and cooperation in development of and implementation of customer/market penetration strategies


What are the key responsibilities?

  • Generate/capture new “Profitable” business opportunities/programs for SMB from the strategic customer base and markets assigned to the BD.
  • Hunting – Identify, prospect, and develop new sales opportunities within existing customers and new customer targets.
  • Identify and clearly define significant opportunities and coordinate activities to pursue these opportunities. Establish the business case behind each opportunity to justify internal resourcing.
  • Serve as lead capture manager for follow-up pricing and delivery of quotations.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all product lines, applications and Company’s capabilities to address new market niches.
  • Conduct market surveys to determine competitive developments and market trends, and analyze results for input to Company marketing and strategies.
  • Develop growth strategies for customers, markets and products.
  • Identify new opportunities and develop customer specific value propositions with strategic direction to position SMB to receive RFQ's.
  • Establish solid relationships with current SMB business leaders, Sales team, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Understand and manage customer expectations, monitor orders and raise flags if not meeting expectations, update forecasts frequently, ensure all customer issues are brought to final resolution.   • Develop and manage customer relationships at all levels and identify key decisions-makers.
  • In collaboration with Account Managers and senior management, develop and maintain holistic customer strategies/plans to include all future programs/opportunities and capture methodology
  • Provide market intelligence expert opinion to business development/Sales & Marketing/Management.
  • Work with customer’s engineers to define application requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective communications with the customer base and potential customers. Maintain detailed knowledge of customer base through consistent and frequent customer contact.
  • Track opportunities and contacts using SMB's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Keep abreast of new product developments in the industry, and attend industry trade shows.
  • Responsible for sale forecasting, and goal setting for new opportunities. Responsible for sale forecasting, and goal setting for new opportunities.
  • Extensive travel (50%+) to customer facilities as needed to strengthen relationship, discuss potential new business opportunities and/or review status of existing business.
  • Ensure compliance to all US export regulations.

What Education and Qualifications are needed for the job?

  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree along with strong technical background
  • Minimum of 5 year’s business development experience
